The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou) is offering several fully funded PhD positions in nanotechnology within the research group of Dr. Sihan Chen. Selected candidates will receive a full scholarship, including a monthly stipend of 15,000 RMB, to conduct cutting-edge research in nanoelectronics, nanomaterials, biointerfaces, and intelligent diagnostic systems.

Position Details

Location: Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou), China
Supervisor: Dr. Sihan Chen – specialist in 2D materials, nanodevices, and bioelectronic systems
Funding: Full scholarship + 15,000 RMB/month stipend
Start Dates: Spring or Fall 2026

Research Areas:

1. 2D materials and devices for post-silicon CMOS and neuromorphic computing
2. Atomically precise nanopores and nanofluidics
3. Nanomaterials characterization and metrology
4. Intelligent nanobiosensing systems for rapid diagnostics

Minimum Requirements:

• Strong academic background in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Bioengineering, or a related field
• Coursework and project experience in nanotechnology, solid-state devices, or biosensing

Preferred Qualifications:

• Research experience and peer-reviewed publications in 2D materials, nanofabrication, semiconductor devices, nanobiosensors, single-molecule techniques, or nanofluidics
