Fully funded PhDs in nanotechnology at HKUST(GZ) with stipend, Spring/Fall 2026 intake
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou) is offering several fully funded PhD positions in nanotechnology within the research group of Dr. Sihan Chen. Selected candidates will receive a full scholarship, including a monthly stipend of 15,000 RMB, to conduct cutting-edge research in nanoelectronics, nanomaterials, biointerfaces, and intelligent diagnostic systems.
Position Details
Location: Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou), China
Supervisor: Dr. Sihan Chen – specialist in 2D materials, nanodevices, and bioelectronic systems
Funding: Full scholarship + 15,000 RMB/month stipend
Start Dates: Spring or Fall 2026
Research Areas:
- 2D materials and devices for post-silicon CMOS and neuromorphic computing
- Atomically precise nanopores and nanofluidics
- Nanomaterials characterization and metrology
- Intelligent nanobiosensing systems for rapid diagnostics
Minimum Requirements:
- Strong academic background in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Bioengineering, or a related field
- Coursework and project experience in nanotechnology, solid-state devices, or biosensing
Preferred Qualifications:
- Research experience and peer-reviewed publications in 2D materials, nanofabrication, semiconductor devices, nanobiosensors, single-molecule techniques, or nanofluidics
